About Jewish Greater Hartford
Our Jewish community of 35,000 people live in more than 30 towns surrounding Hartford, Connecticut’s capital city. Greater Hartford is mid-way between Boston and New York, about 25 miles from Waterbury Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts, an hour’s drive to the coastline or the Berkshires.
We’re a full-service Jewish community with a vibrant, thriving Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Hebrew Health Care, Mandell Jewish Community Center and Jewish Family Services. We offer the CHAI Center for Jewish Life serving the Farmington Valley, Jewish Day and High Schools, a Jewish Historical Society, kosher shopping and caterers, Israel activities, Jewish day and overnight camps, programs for people with special needs and Jewish senior facilities, programs and residences. Volunteer opportunities for every age group and interest will keep you busy and connected.
Newcomers can choose from more than 20 synagogues and congregations representing all affiliations, adult Jewish learning programs, Jewish film and book festivals, culture, lectures, art and music. Our YAD, Young Adult Division wants to meet new young families, and the Hillels at our local campuses serve college students and faculty in Hartford, West Hartford, New Britain and Storrs.
Welcome home!
