A Letter Home From One Happy Camper

Summer camp has been a transformative tradition for so many in our community. But did you know your contributions to Federation’s Annual Campaign not only support Mandell JCC’s Camp Shalom and Camp Laurelwood in Madison… they also provide scholarships for first-time Jewish campers? The scholarships are made possible through One Happy Camper, a partnership with the Foundation for Jewish Camp. Through One Happy Camper, 38 local Jewish children were able to attend Jewish overnight camp for the first time this summer with a grant of up to $1,000.

Above is a handwritten thank-you note from first time camper Thomas Muro and below is a heartfelt testimonial from his mother, Rebecca Stewart. Together, they serve as a powerful example of our collective impact.

Hello there!

I received a thank-you letter from Thomas for you and wanted to share it. We are very grateful for the One Happy Camper scholarship. Thomas is having a truly wonderful time — and I anticipate that he’ll ask me to stay longer any minute. Thank you for all that you have done; this is a wonderful program that brings Judaism into my boys’ lives in the most wonderful way. We are very appreciative.

Thank you again!

Rebecca
