Interfaith Candlelight Vigil to Be Held August 23 in West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CONN. (August 21, 2017) – Several Jewish organizations have come together to host an interfaith candlelight vigil at 7:00 p.m. on August 23 at Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford. In the wake of the recent violent demonstrations in Charlottesville, Va., the nonpartisan vigil will offer the community a peaceful way to demonstrate solidarity with all who are affected by prejudice and hatred.

Sponsors of the vigil include the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Voices of Hope, Congregation Beth Israel, the Mandell Jewish Community Center, and the Jewish Federation Association of Connecticut (JFACT).

Leaders from the Christian and Muslim traditions will also participate in the vigil, and the entire community is welcome. Congregation Beth Israel is located at 701 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford. Candles will be provided. For more information, please contact Laura Zimmerman, Director, Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, at 860.727.6167 or lzimmerman@jewishhartford.org.
