BIRTHRIGHT ISRAEL

Bringing Jewish young adults to Israel is a vital element of Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford’s mission to strengthen ties between Israel and our local Jewish community. We are proud that our support of Birthright Israel provides a way for young Jews to enhance their leadership skills, explore their personal Jewish identity, travel the country, and gain a better understanding of the relationship between Israel and the North American Jewish community. These journeys are even more meaningful because they bring together peers with diverse backgrounds and common ideals to take part in active adventures, making connections to the past, present, and future of the Jewish state.

  • Birthright Israel provides the gift of first time, peer group, educational trips to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26.
  • Over the last 10 years, over 500,000 Jewish young adults - including more than 2,500 from Greater Hartford - have participated in a Birthright trip.
  • Because of the Birthright program’s sheer scope, it can only be supported through a partnership of local, national, and global funders. Birthright is a funding partnership among the State of Israel, global individual funders and Jewish Federations of North America.
